A 1-Hour Lunch & Learn Training with Melissa Kelleher
Virtual Via Zoom | 11:30am-12:30pm
Presentation: Join us for a comprehensive finance session designed to enhance your understanding of state budgeting processes, storytelling with numbers, and ensuring alignment between budgets and program narratives. This training will provide a detailed review of state contract budget line items and strategies for expending funds to achieve successful contractual outcomes. Participants will learn best practices in budget revisions, including when they are appropriate, when amendments are necessary, and how to navigate encumbrances and carryover between fiscal years. We’ll also explore maintaining fiscal integrity ratio requirements and avoiding common pitfalls. In addition, this session will provide an overview of direct and indirect costs when creating a budget and determining options for reimbursement. Participants will gain insight into navigating indirect cost pitfalls, understanding indirect cost rates, and exploring options such as de minimis, special, and restricted rates. Managing these often overlooked costs ensures a transparent and effective financial strategy for any program or award. Members of the DHHS finance team will be on hand to share real-world examples and answer vendor questions throughout the session.
Because space is limited, individuals must register for sessions separately.
This training is financed under a contract with the State of NH, Department of Health and Human Services, with funds provided in part by the State of NH and/or such funding sources as were available or required, e.g., the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
