Presentation: This training is designed to equip individuals in peer support roles with essential practices and strategies to prioritize their own well-being. The focus is on finding a balance between supporting others and taking care of one's own mental, emotional, and physical health. Participants will learn how to prevent burnout, manage compassion fatigue, and navigate the emotional challenges of grief and loss that arise in their roles.
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
- List at least 2 strategies for preventing and managing compassion fatigue;
- Identify self-care strategies for coping with the grief and emotional toll of personal loss, including the loss of those they work with; and
- Create a personalized self-care and resilience plan.

Daniel Wargo

TLC Recovery Programs
Daniel holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and psychology. He is credentialed by the state of New Hampshire as a licensed drug and alcohol counselor (LADC) and certified recovery support worker (CRSW) supervisor. He is also a certified trainer in Motivational Interviewing, which enables him to mentor other professionals in this essential therapeutic approach. In addition, Daniel has been an active board member of the Coordination and Cooperation Task Force for the past two years, helping to align strategies across the New Hampshire Governor's Commission on Alcohol and Other Drugs.
Daniel’s expertise lies in integrating substance use counseling with peer recovery support, maximizing recovery outcomes and fostering leadership within the recovery field. As someone in long-term recovery, he is deeply committed to helping others achieve success in their personal recovery and professional growth.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Daniel enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and fishing, which help him maintain a balanced and focused approach to his work and ongoing recovery journey.
