Presentation: This workshop will discuss the emergence of Post-Incarceration Syndrome (PICS), a set of symptoms that are present in currently incarcerated and recently released individuals. Although Post-Incarceration Syndrome is not a recognized diagnosable mental health condition, individuals post-incarceration display these behaviors to providers very often and perpetuate recidivism. What leads to incarceration, what is Post-Incarceration Syndrome, and what can we do to stop this vicious cycle of recidivism? These are the central questions that we will attempt to answer.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Explain what Post-Incarceration Syndrome (PICS) is, and the latest data behind it;
2. Identify and explain risk factors that individuals can experience that lead to incarceration; and
3. Evaluate the impact that Post-Incarceration Syndrome (PICS) has on individuals, their families, and the larger community.

Break Information: This training includes one 15-minute break. Exact break schedules are at the discretion of the presenter and may vary.
