9:00am-3:30pm
130 Pembroke Road, Suite 150, Concord, NH 03301
Presentation: This one-day workshop is a comprehensive dive into nonprofit financial management, designed to empower leaders with the tools, strategies, and confidence to manage finances effectively and drive sustainable impact. Through a blend of practical guidance and strategic insights, we'll cover essential topics, from mastering core financial statements to understanding the nuances of budgeting and cash flow.
Participants will learn how to review the key financial statements that reveal their organization's health, calculate vital metrics, and communicate their financial story to stakeholders with clarity and impact. The workshop includes practical techniques for creating useful, accurate budgets, integrating forecasting into monthly routines, and developing long-term financial plans to navigate future growth.
To build a strong foundation, we'll explore software and tools to streamline financial processes, even on a tight budget, and outline the finance roles essential to an effective team. Leaders will learn how to structure financial responsibilities within their organization, build efficient routines for monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks, and create a culture of financial transparency and accountability.
Additional focus areas include cash flow management strategies, insights into long-term forecasting, preparing for audits and 990 compliance, and strategies for effective board financial management. By the end of this intensive workshop, nonprofit leaders will have gained actionable skills, practical resources, and a clear framework to manage their finances confidently, enabling them to make informed decisions and lead their organizations toward a prosperous, impactful future.
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
1. Understand and Analyze Financial Statements: Participants will be able to review and interpret core financial statements (Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, and Cash Flow Statement) and calculate at least three key financial health metrics for their organization.
2. Create and Manage Budgets: Participants will develop the skills to create an accurate annual budget, integrate forecasting into their monthly financial routines, and adjust their financial plans based on organizational needs and external factors.
3. Implement Cash Flow Management Strategies: Participants will learn to identify cash flow trends, develop a strategy to address shortfalls or surpluses, and use forecasting tools to plan for long-term sustainability.
4. Strengthen Financial Processes and Roles: Participants will outline a streamlined financial management process using appropriate tools and software, define clear finance roles within their team, and establish a routine for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial tasks.
5. Enhance Financial Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Participants will be able to effectively communicate their organization’s financial story to stakeholders, including the board, funders, and staff, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
