Initial Training on Addiction and Recovery - March 10, 2026

Presentation: This introductory workshop on addiction and recovery is designed to raise awareness and understanding of the dynamics and impact of addiction on people whom we serve. It will cover the neurological basis of addiction; mental, behavioral, emotional, and spiritual dimensions; stages of change; recovery; motivational techniques and resources.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the neurological process of addiction;
  2. Explain how addiction manifests on various aspects of the whole person (mental, physical, emotional and spiritual);
  3. Identify the five stages of change;
  4. Match intervention strategies to stages; and
  5. Assess appropriate resources for addressing alcohol and other drug concerns.

Rumyana Radzhova, MSW, LADC, is a licensed drug and alcohol counselor with more than 20 years of experience in human services, eight of which were spent in the addiction field. Ms. Radzhova has expertise providing direct services in both clinical and non-clinical settings. Her current role as a clinical services specialist for the New Hampshire Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services entails providing clinical support to several SUD providers in NH, as well as rule writing, the development and implementation of clinical review tools for the State of NH and external stakeholders.
