A 1-Hour Lunch & Learn with Heather Smith, LCMHC, MLADC, R-DMT

Presentation: This 1-hour workshop will provide an overview of the Alc 300 rules by the NH Board of Licensing for Alcohol & Other Drug Use Professionals, which describe the initial licensure requirements for LADCs and MLADCs, and the 400 rules, which describe the re-licensure and supervisor/supervision requirements. Initial and re-licensure requirements will be examined for both credentials.
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
- Explain the credentialing requirements for becoming an NH licensed alcohol & drug counselor (LADC);
- Explain the credentialing requirements for becoming an NH master's licensed alcohol & drug counselor (MLADC);
- Describe the renewal requirements for maintaining an NH license for alcohol & drug counselor (LADC);
- Describe the renewal requirements for maintaining an NH master’s license for alcohol & drug counselor (MLADC);
- Identify an approved supervisor for both credentials; and
- Describe how to become an approved supervisor for both credentials.

Heather Smith, LCMHC, MLADC, R-DMT is a dedicated professional with over 15 years of experience in the fields of mental health and substance use treatment across a variety of clinical settings. She has held key administrative and supervisory roles, providing expert clinical oversight and mentorship to licensure & certification candidates in NH. Heather is the founder of True Colors Counseling, PLLC, a telebehavioral health private practice established in 2020. In 2022, after becoming a mother, she expanded her services to offer perinatal support for both birthing parents and caregivers. She also currently serves as a clinical supervisor with the Credentialing Support Partnership at the NH Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors Association, offering external supervision and credentialing support. Known for her holistic and individualized approach, Heather’s guidance has empowered emerging addiction professionals to confidently navigate credentialing and uphold excellence in ethical client care.
In her therapy sessions, Heather utilizes a variety of techniques to best meet the unique needs of her clients. Her approach blends expressive arts, body/mind exercises, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills, person-centered therapy, and reality therapy to foster healing and growth.
Outside of work, Heather prioritizes self-care by spending quality time with her family, enjoying outdoor activities like fishing and hiking, attending live music events, and expressing herself creatively through painting, crafting, and dance/movement—whether teaching or participating.
