A 1-Hour Lunch & Learn with Dr. Christina Marsack-Topolewski, Ph.D., LMSW

Virtual via Zoom | 12:00pm-1:00pm

Presentation: Across the nation, drug overdose deaths have increased greatly in recent years. Non-medical prescription opioids and other illicit drugs pose dangerous consequences for those engaging in substance misuse. Given the link of onset of substance misuse and the presence of mental health conditions, health and human service professionals have an integral role in mitigating use and supporting those engaging in substance misuse. This webinar will provide a look at non-medical opioid misuse in the United States by providing an introductory overview of prevalence, trends, and clinical implications for providers.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. State the prevalence of non-medical prescription opioid misuse in the United States;
  2. Articulate the trends related to non-medical prescription opioid misuse and onset of initial use; and
  3. Describe supports, resources, and clinical implications to support consumers experiencing substance misuse and their loved ones.
