With an emphasis on the recent changes in confidentiality guidance, this session offers insights, strategies, and a renewed commitment to safeguarding the journey to wellness.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Examine the balance between confidentiality and community in substance use disorder recovery, identifying key challenges and ethical considerations in maintaining trust;
  2. Explore recent changes in confidentiality guidance and their impact on treatment providers, peer support networks, and individuals in recovery; and
  3. Develop practical strategies for fostering a recovery culture that upholds privacy while promoting connection, accountability, and long-term wellness.

Ken Martz, Psy.D

Psychologist

Kenneth J. Martz, Psy.D. MBA. is a licensed psychologist. He has worked in the treatment and management of addiction (including gambling) for the past 30 years across settings including outpatient, residential, and hospital settings. He was formerly the Special Assistant to the Secretary for the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and Policy Director in Substance Use Disorders of the Governor’s Policy Office. Dr. Martz has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University. He has authored a dozen publications, six bestsellers, including the international bestseller Manage My Emotions, translated into multiple languages. He has over 100 local, national, and international presentations in the addiction treatment field.
